Season End Backtrack

BACKTRACK - Coronado Cave & Potluck
It was only 1/2 mile to the cave, but an uphill trail on a hot morning. Out of 16 people a small group waited at the entrance, and the rest clambered down over boulders to the floor of the cool cave. The leisurely walk to the end and back out was about 30 minutes. It's an amazing place, especially for those who were there for the first time. We saw the dragon rock formation with the glowing teeth, but nobody accepted the challenge of crawling through the tube.
Back at the nearby picnic area, Doug, Anne and others had prepared our usual tables to spread out the potluck food. More people joined us for that, and it was nice seeing friends and saying goodbye to some leaving Bisbee for the summer. Doug presented Carol an award for leading the most Muleteam hikes this season, and dessert was John's famous homemade ice cream.
I have so enjoyed the hiking and the friendships of the Muleteam over the years. Thanks for hiking with me, and enjoy your summer. See you in October. - Larry
