HIKE IN GARDEN CANYON
Join the Muleteam this Saturday for a hike on Fort Huachuca in the Huachuca Mountains, starting in Garden Canyon and going up to the beginning of Sawmill Canyon, where our hike will end. This is a higher elevation hike. It's uphill on a primitive road with pine woods, creek scenery (hopefully some fall colors!) and two spots to see petroglyphs. The hike will be about 6 miles roundtrip. Bring water and lunch. Back mid-afternoon. Meet November 22 at 9am by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain to carpool. IMPORTANT: Anyone going on this hike needs a valid Fort Huachuca pass! For more details contact Deb at (802)777-1499 or debvanschaack@gmail.com.

BACKTRACK - Holenstein Mine becomes Clark Springs
Eleven hikers and one trooper dog set off onto the Miller Trail with the bold assurance that someone knew where they were going—though no one had clarified who that someone was.
Then came the antenna man—a wiry fellow from Sierra Vista who emerged from the brush as if summoned to deliver a message from the Hiking Gods. He pointed at the group with the authority of a desert prophet and declared: You Bisbeeites—your problem is that you hike without a destination!”
The group stared at him, dust-covered, dehydrated, and spiritually unmoored, and thought: Well… yeah. Rob cheerfully declared, “The hike on Miller Trail was excellent. Never knew we were lost!” Mary nodded enthusiastically. “Turned out to be a good hike because we were lost!” Deb offered the classic line, “Not all who wander are lost,” while Mike muttered, “But all who hike are possibly lost,” which, given the circumstances, felt more like prophecy than poetry. And somewhere in the back, Jan confessed loudly to the junipers, “I fuc**d—expletive—up!”
In the end, everyone laughed, nobody died, the dog earned Trooper of the Month, and the hikers returned home with a new story, a questionable sense of direction, and an unshakable motto: Hiking with no destination isn’t a mistake… it’s a lifestyle. - Jay
