BACKTRACK - Mural Hill
Beautiful, sunny day hiking with 24 people - and 4 others doing their own thing. Thanks so much to Brad & Dave for pruning the trail ahead of us, and Dave also added trail guiding ribbons with amusing comments. A few stayed at the saddle, some climbed straight to the top and others took the side trail there. We took photos a few places along the way - Jay took the group photo, and check out Elizabeth's cool 360 shots from the top with the links below. The dogs, Bee & Sheila had a sudden fight at lunch, but Kevin broke it up quickly. Hot walk back, and some of us topped it all off with a beer at the Brewery. I love that hike, but it seems to be getting a little harder.  -Larry

BACKTRACK - The Cross
Eighteen Hikers and four dogs gathered for this year's almost Christmas hike to the cross and along city trail to High Desert for lunch. Doug was recovering from minor surgery so John Wasser graciously agreed to lead the hike on five minutes notice--Thanks John! At the top, the Muleteam poet laureate John Broz read his Bezzo poem and we all laughed at the beagle's antics and ways. Elizabeth took another 360 picture along with Larry's weekly photo. Some folks detoured to B hill--Ms. B (Lynn's canine companion) followed them unbeknownst to Lynn--they were reunited at the end of the OK trail. Many of us re-grouped at High Desert and enjoyed a healthy lunch and good conversation. Wishing all a Happy Holiday season and looking forward to Mural Hill to begin our 2018 hikes. -Anne

BACKTRACK - Perimeter Trail
Twenty-two hikers were joined by four dogs on this year's Perimeter Trail/Jazzy Memorial Hike. We stopped early for a picture before some of us peeled off and Elizabeth tested her new 360 camera made by a the Chinese company that her son works for. It was sunny and bright and just the right temperature. When we arrived at the lunch spot the wind picked up and we worried that the front was arriving early--we gobbled lunch, no pictures and headed back--wind died down and we all arrived back tired and happy--good to have Alice and Jay join us along with some new faces! -Anne

SIDETRACK - Airport Ride for Peggy?
I’m to have my house closing on Wed, Jan 3—at least, that’s the plan right now, and that’s the day the movers will come—at 9:00am. Now, one daughter and her husband came down from Phoenix and helped me with packing all day yesterday. My other two offspring live pretty far away…….so, I would like to send a message to the Muleteam to see if anyone would care to take me to the Tucson airport, probably on Jan 3. I will pay this person for his or her time and for gas. He/she would need to use their own vehicle as mine will be taken to my destination by the movers. -Peggy Scanlon

BACKTRACK - Zacatecas/potluck
Charlie hosted the holiday potluck this year with about 15 hikers and at least twice that many people for the potluck. Beautiful day, wonderful house, delicious food & interesting people. We said goodbye to Peggy who will be moving soon and hello to Carol F and Alice & Jay who are visiting for the holidays. Loretta & Laura sang a funny potluck song, and Carol C gave a tour of the house she's buying across the road. What a great hiking group of friends. Even Charlie said he enjoyed it and may do it again next year.
