Join the Muleteam this Saturday to hike from the Coronado Visitor Center through a very scenic valley in the Huachuca Mountains to Coronado Peak for a view of Mexico. This is a continuous uphill trail returning down the same way for a total of about 6.5 miles. Bring water and lunch but no dogs. Back mid-afternoon. Meet Feb 23 at 9am by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain to carpool. Free, but gas donation is appreciated. For more details contact Joe at Joseph@rekindleyoursoul.com or 320-282-8857.
BACKTRACK - Cochise Stronghold
The full Cochise Stronghold hike, one way from either the west side or east to the opposite side, did not take place for a couple of reasons. Instead, 13 hikers went in from the East Side and back the same way. We stopped for lunch at a viewpoint about one half mile from the summit. After lunch and the photo opportunity, some hikers went on to the summit for a brief and windy visit. The other hikers proceeded back to the east side trailhead.
Four hikers went in and back from the west side. Despite windy conditions it was an enjoyable day, as the trail is one of the most scenic in the Dragoons. -Molly
A passing hiker took the group photo (of 15), and a couple more are at muleteam.shutterfly.com.
Elizabeth's 360ยบ photo is at rebrand.ly/Stronghold.
