HIKE WOOD CANYON TO THE RIDGE TRAIL
Join the Muleteam this Saturday for a hike from Wood Canyon up to and along the Ridge Trail. This will be a loop, including Zacatecas Canyon and parts of the City Trail on its return. The hike is moderately strenuous, 5.7 miles with a 1500' elevation gain. Bring water and lunch, back early afternoon. Dogs are welcome. Route and elevation profile visible here.
Meet January 9 at 9:00 a.m. by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain. Free, but we will not be carpooling at this time to the parking area on Wood Canyon. Alternatively, hikers may drive straight to Wood Canyon, where hike leaders will be directing parking from the base of the 52D Wood Canyon driveway. For more details contact Sue at (612) 810-0689 or subylogan@msn.com.
Hikers are asked to wear masks, with the exception of those who have difficulty with physical exertion while masked. The latter are asked to maintain a six-foot distance from other hikers.

BACKTRACK - Mural Hill
Sixteen intrepid hikers all reached Mural Hill Peak on a clear sunny winter day. The faster-moving group up front reached the peak well before six more leisurely hikers including hike leader Alice Heinecke. Fortunately, the first group lolled about on the warm crest long enough to be joined by the tail end of the hikers. Overconfidence led to some adventure as four of the last hikers to depart the crest were led astray by novice Mural Hill hike leader Alice, diverging along the longer East path off the summit. We had to bushwhack and slide when the trail petered out, ending up well East and under the saddle. Shimmying through a barbed wire fence led us back to Larry and John W., who had kindly waited for us when they realized we were not behind them. It was a long, but beautiful hike. - Alice
