Ramsey Canyon

RAMSEY CANYON TO PAT SCOTT TRAIL
Join us on December 2nd for our hike beginning in the Ramsey Canyon Nature Conservancy Preserve at the end of Ramsey Canyon Road off Route 92 in the Huachuca Mountains. There will be a charge to enter - $5 for Cochise County residents and Nature Conservancy members.
After walking through the grounds of the Nature Preserve where we are likely to see humming birds, deer and other wildlife, we will ascend 500 feet in a series of switchbacks for one half mile. After that, it is a short distance to a scenic overlook of Ramsey Canyon. We will proceed beyond the overlook to the area where the Hamburg Trail meets the Wisconsin Canyon and then the Pat Scott Trails. Bring lunch and water. Our lunch break will take place in that area. We will travel back to the Nature Preserve on the same trail, for a total of about 4.6 miles round trip. No dogs allowed on this one.
Meet at the Courthouse fountain at 9am on December 2nd to carpool. Carpooling will be essential for this hike as there is limited parking at the Nature Preserve, so consider participating in carpooling even if you generally don’t. The road is smooth, so any car will be fine. For details or any questions, contact Molly at eeo.source@gmail.com or (208) 720-7518.

BACKTRACK - Charleston
William avoided leading this hike by catching a cold, so I filled in. The morning was cold and cloudy but warmed up during the day. We had 10 people and 5 big dogs. No one else had done this hike before, but we didn't get too lost in the mesquite as we explored the ruins of Charleston and the petroglyphs. We found a good spot to cross the river to the old mill walls, and then it was an easy trail to the Monster tunnel by the river for lunch. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fall day rambling by the water, especially the dogs.  - Larry
