EXPLORE HISTORIC CLANTON RANCH

Join the Muleteam this Saturday to hike the Murray Springs and San Pedro Trails to the historic Clanton Ranch. We will hike 2.3 miles from the Murray Springs parking lot to the ranch, stop for lunch, then hike back. Easy hike along an old railroad grade and old roads. Optional .8 mile Murray Springs Clovis Site interpretive trail at the end. Bring water and snack/lunch.

Meet February 13 at 9 a.m. by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain, from which we will car-caravan in our separate vehicles to the Murray Springs parking lot (no carpooling at this time). Alternatively, hikers may meet us at 9:30 at the lot, reached by going north on Moson Rd. from Hwy 90 and turning right just past mile marker #9. For more details contact Paul at 520-366-5239. 

Hikers are asked to wear masks, with the exception of those who have difficulty with physical exertion while masked. The latter are asked to maintain a six-foot distance from other hikers.

BACKTRACK - Lower Miller/Palmerlee

Nine humans and 3 dogs began the beautiful hike along lower Miller Canyon. It took us over the river and through the woods, following the stream bed which required us to cross over the water in a couple of areas. Once we reached the second parking lot, we voted to continue up Miller Canyon ridge to the abandoned town of Palmerlee where the ruins of an old sawmill sit. This made a great lunch spot for us on the ruins bordering the creek.  Everyone enjoyed the hike especially the dogs who were very happy running in the woods and splashing in the water 😊! Total distance hiked 4.5 miles. - Jan
