Clark Spring

HIKE BETWEEN MILLER AND CARR CANYONS

Join the Muleteam this Saturday in the lower Huachuca Mountains for a hike that includes the Clark Spring Trail. The first half is mostly flat by a stream (doubt there will be water in the stream), then a steady climb to a scenic spot for lunch and back again for a total of about 6 miles. Very pretty views. Some steep areas so you might want to bring poles. Bring water and lunch. Back mid-afternoon.

Meet March 19 at 9 AM by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain, we will drive from there. For those who want to drive directly to the trailhead, meet at 9:30 at the first parking area on the left on Miller Canyon Rd. after it turns to dirt. There are restrooms there. For more details contact Jan at 704-299-6614.

BACKTRACK - Lewis Springs
Twelve mules (no dogs) were on the hike which began on an old dirt road and crossed over to the railroad bed.  It was a short hike in with some interesting old bridges and remnants of the railroad.  We did a little bushwhacking into the main site of the Lewis Springs resort which at one time featured a spring-fed pool, an indoor swimming pool, dance pavilion, concessions, playground and picnic tables.  Three of us shared a little history we found on the web.  After lunch by the spring and the giant cottonwood tree we walked out.  It was a great day with cool temps and sunshine. -Sandy
