Lewis Springs

HIKE TO LEWIS SPRINGS

Join the Muleteam this Saturday for a hike on the old railroad bed to Lewis Springs. It's an easy, flat 4.5-mile out and back hike. Situated near the San Pedro River, it was a popular resort in the late-19th and early-20th centuries where thousands of people gathered. Only remnants remain.

Meet March 12 at 9 a.m. by the Old Bisbee Courthouse fountain. We will be back early afternoon.  For more details contact Sandy at 520-353-5124 or slajudice@yahoo.com.

BACKTRACK - Fairbank and Gourmet River Picnic
A wonderful tradition resumed with style. Twenty-two of us and three dogs enjoyed beautiful weather and hiked the San Pedro River trail from the historic town of Fairbank. We all walked two miles to the river, with stops at the Old Cemetery and the Central Mill (turn-of-the-century silver ore processing center) ending with a riverside lunch. Our 10-year tradition of an annual gourmet pot-luck meal, with tablecloths and plates and a broad array of wonderful food to share (and some wine and margaritas, to boot) was revived after a couple of COVID years. After lunch, a small number of the group returned the way we came, and most of us continued another almost-three miles on the loop return trail following the river and railroad track back to town. It was great to see a Muleteam tradition revived. For those who missed it, we'll see you at the next Gourmet  Riverside Picnic in March 2023.
