Mural Hill

HIKE TO MURAL HILL
Join the Muleteam this Saturday, March 11 from Old Bisbee to the edge of the high flat-top mountain best seen from the traffic circle. This trail of desert path and unused dirt road is a mostly uphill walk with a short, steep scramble to the top and thorny in places. It's about 7 miles total with a wonderful view from the crest. Bring water and lunch. Back mid-afternoon. Meet March 11 at 9am by the Old Bisbee courthouse fountain to start the hike. Free. For more details contact Larry at larryjmilam@gmail.com or 520-224-4951.

BACKTRACK - Fairbank Picnic
Our 13th Annual San Pedro Riverside Hike & Picnic couldn't have been more successful. 20 Mules and two dogs started on an absolutely perfect day: sunny and warm (hitting the 70s). We explored the Fairbank Cemetery and the Grand Central Mill and at riverside found a comfortable shady place to spread out under a large cottonwood tree. Great food and drink (Laura's Margarita was a big hit). After lunch six hikers and one dog backtracked the way we came, and the rest followed the loop trail along the river and railroad track back to Fairbank town. We all got home by 3:00pm, well-fed and happy. - Doug

SIDETRACK - First Aid Training Update
Back in December, Larry had a great idea that, in view of the recent serious injury on the Ridge Trail and the real possibility that someone else may be hurt on a Muleteam hike, we should explore getting some training for those who are interested. I arranged for Dave Perry with Bisbee Fire/EMS to meet us on Saturday December 3 at 9:00am the Courthouse. Dave was in charge of CPR and Emergency medical training. Dave give us a short introduction to his program. Soon thereafter, we reached out to those who would be interested, and the format and scheduling for training. The general consensus was that a one-time two-hour training at the Firehouse on Tombstone Canyon Road on a Sunday would be preferable. I followed up with Dave a few times and was never able to get a firm day or time because he said that his schedule changed weekly.
Today - February 26th - I called for Dave and was informed that he was no longer with Bisbee Fire. There is a new EMS/First Aid person (Gus Campillo) who has just come on. I left my contact info, and will stay on top of this, hoping that we can set up a training for the Muleteam and others who would be interested in the near future. I’ll keep everyone updated on Blogspot.
